Alert - New York State Budget Update

Here is an update on New York State Budget advocacy, from Alex Thompson, Director of Advocacy at the New York Association on Independent Living

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share with you all that we ended yesterday’s day of action successfully. We dropped off materials to every office in Albany with CDANYS and also dropped in where we could to speak on the issues. There was also time spent outside both the Senate and Assembly Chambers holding signs to increase the visibility of our priorities. We appreciate everyone that was able to make it out on short notice for the day and all the remote support through phone calls and social media outreach. We need continued support from everyone by making calls and being in touch with your local representatives in the Senate and Assembly. I’ve included links below to action alerts and fliers that cover both our leading IL priorities, ILC funding and Access to Home. The action alerts highlight priority leadership targets, but it is also very helpful to leverage any local relationships you have in the Senate and Assembly.

The budget will likely be late based on what we’re hearing. We anticipate a final budget next week and need to keep up the momentum on our issues. If we can support your local outreach please let us know.
