February Disability Advocacy Events

Alert in bold white letters on a red background

Governor Houchul’s budget proposal for 2022 is out.

Now it’s time for the disability community to tell New York State legislators about what we need and hope to see in the final budget and lawmaking this year. The New York Association on Independent Living is working with two other organizations, the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Association of New York, and New York Caring Majority, on two upcoming online events. Their purpose is to inform disability advocates about current disability issues in New York State, and how we can achieve key goals for New York’s disability community.

You can register now for these events, which will be broadcast on Zoom …

Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Association of New York State 2022 Budget & Legislative Briefing

Our briefing, held virtually, will provide some of the most up-to-date information about the budget process, CDPAANYS' priorities, and more. We will get you up to date on advocacy surrounding #FairPay4HomeCare and other issues that impact the consumer directed home care community statewide, including:

  • why we need Fair Pay for Home Care - not one-time bonuses;

  • how we can fight to improve home care by ensuring transparency and data sharing;

  • why allowing increases to eligibility for Medicaid and other low-income health programs are not effective if we do not address the workforce shortage; and

  • why we need to repeal former-Governor Cuomo's harmful Medicaid eligibility cuts.

February 14, 2022, starting at 10:00 AM Eastern
