Have you ever considered working as a Personal Assistant for a person with a disability, in their home, helping them live independently?
We are looking for caring, capable, dedicated people who are interested in working full or part-time for people with disabilities under the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance, (CDPA) program in Clinton County. CDPA is an alternative to traditional home care services. The program allows people with disabilities who are Medicaid-eligible more control over their personal care services. Consumers enrolled in the CDPA program manage their own care, and have the freedom to recruit, hire, train, supervise, schedule, and dismiss their own Personal Assistants. We provide participating consumers with a list of potential Personal Assistants, but it is up to each individual consumer to contact them, interview them, and decide who they want to hire for the hours of service they have been given.
Personal Assistants are paid every two weeks, at an hourly rate of pay. After an eligibility period has been completed, and depending on how many hours you work, you may also receive a full benefit package, including:
Qualifications
There are no specific qualifications, but most consumers will look for people with a strong history of reliability, honesty, and experience providing personal care to others, in an environment of mutual respect. Depending on consumers’ individual needs, they may also look for people with physical strength, cooking skills, people who live close to them, and / or people willing to work flexible schedules.
NCCI facilitates this program in cooperation with an organization called Concepts of Independent Choices. Concepts' role is to bill Medicaid and to provide payroll services, health and benefit information.
If you want to be added to the Personal Assistant list, which makes you available for possible hiring, call NCCI at 518-563-9058 (Voice & TTY), or e-mail us at jmike@ncci-online.com
