Emergency Help
NCCI does not provide emergency services to people with disabilities or others. Most of our work focuses on helping people work towards long-term goals. However, we may be able to help you identify sources of short-term, emergency help with housing, food, clothing, or other necessities. Try contacting the agencies listed below.

Governor's Resources Page for Working Families ... a good place to start when you're looking for any kind of financial assistance.
New York Prescription Saver ... save on prescrition medications.
Low-Income Utility Assistance.
Clinton County Suicide Hotline ... 866-577-3836; 877-829-1278 TTY.
Clinton County Department of Social Services ... administers a variety of income assistance programs such as Food Stamps, heating assistance, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
Most people know that if you need the police, an ambulance, or firefighters, you dial 911. Now, if you need non-emergency human services help, dialing 211 gets you an operator who will provide free and confidential information and referral. Call 211 for help with food, housing, employment, health care, counseling and more. 211 now serves Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties, seven days a week, from 8 AM to 8 PM. If dialing 211 doesn't work, the alternative number is 888-774-0289.
Joint Council for Economic Opportunity ... provides a variety of services to help people improve their income and employment security in Clinton County.
Adirondack Community Action Program ... provides a variety of services to help people improve their income and employment security in Essex County.
Family Promise ... faith-based help for needy families, run by networks of local faith communities. There is a local network based in Plattsburgh.
Catholic Charities ... provides a charitble services.
Managing Your Debt ... a guide from the Rural Law Center of New York.
Red Cross North Country Chapter ... provides assistance during community-wide emergencies and natural disasters.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Disability Emergency Preparedness Home Page ... guide to help people with disabilities plan for personal and community-wide emergencies.
Disability Preparedness Center ... from the Center for Disability and Special Needs Preparedness.
